Overall the class was challenging and a lot of work (a whole lot more than my CW1 class that is for sure), but I know I have grown a lot this semester (in a writing aspect I have not gotten any taller for years now). I think a lot of that growing has to do with all the work we did, the examples we looked at, the new ways of writing we learned, and the revisions we did. I believe for every project we did peer revisions at some point. I think it is very important, because I might write something and in my head sounds great, but if someone reads it they might realize it sounds terrible. I know I also got better at revision myself, because when I looked back at my first project I read it and thought it sounded terrible. I would have almost re-wrote the whole essay, but then it would not show that I have grown at all. So if you have already read the Rhetorical Analysis I fixed it up a little, but it could be so much better if I re-did it now. So I have grown as a writer, because I did not think that as I re-read the research paper. Also during revisions you read other people's work so you see what work and did not work in there project, and go back and try to apply it to your own project. I feel like having people read my project while reading their own project help me shape mine into a better end project.
All three projects had their own challenges and difficulties. The Rhetorical Analysis was to me different and some what confusing. Also at that time I thought I could blow through an essay like I did in my CW1 course and get an A with little effort and I did not have a set topic so I was not that interested in the analysis of the webpage. The photo essay was different and strange to me, but probably the most enjoyable to make. One because it was just taking pictures and making a story out of them. Also because I was able to use my brother, making him do silly things for the camera. The research paper I am the most proud of and I think my best work. Do not get me wrong it was very challenging and difficult, but I was interested and determined so it did not seem bad. The research taught me a lot about my topic (and similar topics), but also taught me how to correctly research, synthesize, use APA, and how to flow paragraphs together. Those are some of the reason I also think I grew as a writer, because I can no do all of those things. I ended up collecting 9 sources and instead of using the minimal requirement of 6 in the paper I used all 9.
So the course was challenging and a lot of work, but it ultimately allowed (forced) me to grow into a better writer. At times I hated the class and the professor, but it was worth it in the end. So I wold like to thank my classmates for revising my work and even helping out in class if I did not fully understand what our professor was saying. I would like to thank my professor, Dr. Wielgos, for making the course the way it was forcing me to grow into a better writer. I would also like to thank anyone else who helped me along the way, family and friends that helped with my assignments. Finally I would like to thank anyone who read this blog or my first blog and dealt with the process of me not knowing how to use a blog.
